    Dr. Akhilesh Kumar working with VMOU, as Assistant Professor in Education, possesses diverse knowledge and experience in Education of Children with Special Needs, Distance Education and Vocational Education. After completing M.Sc. in Mathematics, his inclination to serve marginalized group of society especially children with disabilities, led him to the apex institute for children with mental retardation, National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH) Secunderabad where he completed M.Ed. in Special Education. Further he has completed his Ph.D. from Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education, Rama Krishna Mission Vivekananda University, Coimbatore on the title “Impact of Normalization & Social Role Valorization on Special Education Services in India”. In addition, he has a PG Diploma in Distance Education from IGNOU. He has participated in more than five international workshops/conferences and several online courses organized by IIT’s and the World Bank Institute. He has served at several Special Teacher Training Institutes in India and also at the premier institute in distance education IGNOU, New Delhi. Apart from teacher training, he is a distinctive researcher and conversant with several quantitative as well as qualitative data analysis software like SPSS, Word Stat, AtlasTi and NVIVO and has published several research papers and books in special education. In addition to this his multidimensionality is reflected in his association with different scientific journals like European Academic Research and Journal of Education and Research for Sustainable development in which he is serving as a Review Editor. His area of interest includes e-Learning, Development and use of Open Educational Resources, Technological innovations in distance education, Research Methodology, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation etc.
